Who we are
Upcademy runs online classes for children, and we are responsible for the information described here. Our mailing address is 169 Madison Ave STE 15186, New York, NY 10016.
What we collect
Details you give us. Your first and last name, email address, WhatsApp number, country and how many children are joining. If you apply to teach, also your city and a link to your Loom video.
About your children. Their first names, which you give us so their teacher and our reminders can use them, and the language and times of their classes.
Booking details. The language you chose, your class times and your time zone.
Payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. We see what was paid and when, but never your full card number.
Messages. What you send us, and what we send you, on WhatsApp and by email.
How you use the site. Pages you visit, the ad or link that brought you here, and your approximate country from your IP address, which we use to preselect the country on our forms.
How we use it
To book and run your classes, match your child with a teacher, send confirmations and reminders on WhatsApp and by email, bill you, and answer your questions. For teachers, to review your application and contact you about it. And to understand which of our ads and pages work, so we can improve them.
Details remembered on your device
When you submit one of our forms, your browser keeps your name, email, WhatsApp number, country, city and number of children, so the next form you open here is already filled in. This stays on your device — it is not sent anywhere until you submit a form again — and it is replaced whenever a form is submitted from that browser.
To remove it, clear this site’s data in your browser settings. If you share a device, anyone using that browser on our site will see these details in the form.
Who else handles it
Teachers. Your child’s teacher sees your child’s first name and their class times, and teaches them live on Zoom, where they see and hear each other. Teachers only have access to the classes they teach.
Service providers. HighLevel (LeadConnector), which holds our contact and booking records and sends our WhatsApp and email messages; WhatsApp; Stripe for payments; Zoom, where classes take place; Loom, for teacher application videos; and FirstPromoter, which tracks referrals.
Analytics and advertising. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest. These use cookies and similar technology to count visits and to measure whether our ads led to a booking or an application.
Each of these handles your information under its own privacy policy.
Where it is handled
Our providers store information in the United States and other countries, and our teachers may live in a different country from you. So your information may be handled outside the country where you live, where privacy laws can differ.
Security
We use established providers to store and send your information, and each person on our team sees only what their job needs. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission, but we will tell you if we learn that yours has been.
Children
Our classes are for children aged 4 to 15. A parent or guardian books and manages the classes and gives us what we need to know about their child. We do not ask children to give us personal information themselves.
Your choices
Access, correction and deletion. Email us to see the details we hold about you or your child, to correct them, or to ask us to delete them.
Messages. Tell us on WhatsApp or by email if you no longer want to hear from us.
Cookies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The site still works, but we will not be able to tell which ad brought you.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are a customer or applicant, and afterward for as long as we need it for billing records and to answer questions — unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update it here and change the date at the top.
