How pay works

You are paid per class taught, in US dollars, straight to your bank. Your hourly rate is based on your on-time attendance and recalculated every month.

Attendance sets what you earn

Attendance is the share of your scheduled classes you start on time, recalculated every month. It sets both your hourly rate and how many classes you are offered.

Hourly pay and class priority by monthly attendance
AttendanceHourly rateClass priority
100%Perfect$5.00Highest
90–99%High$4.50High
80–89%Medium$4.00Medium
70–79%Low$3.50Low
Below 70%Poor$3.00None

Classes are totaled at the end of each month and paid in the first week of the next. We reserve the right to update the pay model to better support our most reliable teachers.

The two rules that decide it

  • On time means joining the Zoom at or before the start time. A minute late counts as late.
  • A student’s absence does not affect your attendance rate if you join on time.

Questions about pay

How is my attendance rate calculated?

Your on-time classes divided by your scheduled classes, multiplied by 100. We recalculate it every month.

What counts as on time?

Joining the Zoom at or before the scheduled start time. Even a minute late counts as late and will lower your rate.

Do student no-shows affect my attendance rate?

No. As long as you were on time, a student not showing up does not hurt your rate.

What happens if I am late or miss a class?

It lowers your attendance rate, which can reduce both your hourly rate and the number of classes you are offered the following month.

How and when do I get paid?

You are paid per class taught. Classes are totaled at the end of each month and paid in the first week of the next. We collect your details during onboarding.

Are there charges on the payment I receive?

Your receiving bank may apply transfer or currency fees. Those are outside our control and are not deducted by us.

Do I have to pay tax?

You teach as an independent contractor, so you are responsible for reporting and paying tax in your own country. We do not withhold tax on your behalf.
