Know what you’ll earn
Attendance is the share of your scheduled classes you start on time, recalculated every month. It sets both your hourly rate and how many classes you are offered.
Classes are totaled at the end of each month and paid in the first week of the next.
We provide the curriculum and handle enrollment, scheduling, reminders and family payments. Your workload depends on demand and the hours you can cover.
More about payments and attendance| Attendance | Hourly rate | Class priority |
|---|---|---|
| 100% | $5.00 | Highest |
| 90–99% | $4.50 | High |
| 80–89% | $4.00 | Medium |
| 70–79% | $3.50 | Low |
| Below 70% | $3.00 | None |
- On time means joining the Zoom at or before the start time. A minute late counts as late.
- A student’s absence does not affect your attendance rate if you join on time.

- Clear, confident English — our students think and speak in English
- Real warmth with kids, and the energy to hold attention through a screen
- A computer with a webcam and microphone — not a phone or tablet
- Internet of at least 10 Mbps up and down, a quiet room and light on your face

A few more answers
Do I have to pay Upcademy anything?
No. Nothing to apply, nothing to register, nothing to teach. Money only ever moves from us to you. If anyone asks you to pay a fee to teach with Upcademy, it is not us.
Do I need a teaching qualification?
No. We care much more about how you are with kids than about certificates. Many of our teachers came from other careers.
Can I choose my own hours?
You choose which hours you make available, then commit to them weekly, because students are assigned to a teacher and a time. You can change your schedule, but not more than once a month.
How much work will I actually get?
Egyptian Arabic classes run every week. How much work reaches you depends on the hours you can cover — US, UK and Canadian evenings and weekends fill fastest.
Will I definitely hear back?
Yes. We’ll let you know whether or not we’re moving forward.
